Set Configuration
The clubs you choose to make up your set should be based on your confidence and ability level. Many golfers are replacing difficult to hit long irons with fairway woods or utility clubs. GigaGolf allows you to purchase irons individually. Therefore, if you would like to make a set that includes a 6 iron through SW and replace the 3, 4 and 5 irons with Utility 3, 4 and 5 you can.

Long Iron Replacement
The clubs that make up your set are an often overlooked component of the total golf club fitting solution. Players with slower swing speeds almost always hit a 5 wood further and more consistently than they hit a 3 iron. Typically, there is a point in an iron set when distance and consistency level off. For some it may be the 4 iron. A player hits a five iron 150 yards, they hit their 4 iron 160 yards but when the 3 iron comes out of the bag they still average 160 yards. If this describes your game, and you do not have the time to regularly devote to long iron practice and or lessons, replace your long irons with Fairway woods or Utility clubs. You will be happy you did.

Driving without a driver
Golf club companies have spent a fair portion of their advertising budget convincing golfers that if they are on the tee box they should be hitting a driver. There is a good reason for this. Titanium drivers are the most expensive club in the bag to purchase. It stands to reason that traditional manufacturers and retailers would want to sell as many as they can. However, our research shows that new golfers often hit higher lofted, shorter clubs further and more consistently. It makes more sense to hit a 3 wood 210 yards into the fairway than a driver 240 into an unplayable lie.

One of the biggest benefits of Titanium is the head size we can achieve without sacrificing strength. Because the heads are larger when compared to their stainless steel counterparts, they typically have an expanded impact zone or sweet spot. GigaGolf carries several Titanium 3 woods that have the benefits of the expanded sweet spot combined with the higher loft and slightly shorter length that make them more playable for many of us. A golfer who is having trouble with the driver may want to try a titanium 3 wood for the tee box and a steel 5 wood for tight fairway lies.
