Power Slot Concept
Pursuit Golf Technology introduced the slot sole to the titanium driver market. The driving force behind the engineering was the idea that casting a deep groove into the sole would provide a mechanism that acts like a loaded hinge and propels the ball off the face at a greater velocity. At that time, several equipment manufacturers were adding a channel to the crown. Our experience told us that most golfers miss the sweet spot toward the sole of the club. Putting the slot on the sole seemed logical. The idea worked so well that the tc420 exceeds the USGA’s COR limits.
ps550 Hybrids
The exciting thing about the slot sole mechanism is that it does not require a huge force to activate. In other words, the player does not need to possess a 115 mph swing speed to benefit from the design. Golfers of all ability levels will gain yards with smoother easier swings. USGA regulations are met but not exceeded as the slot sole fairway woods and hybrids conform to the USGA’s existing testing methods (but barely).
Internal Weight Pad
Just behind the slot there is an internal weight that balances the head with a low center of gravity. Placing the discretionary weight behind the slot and close to the face is another feature that maximizes ball velocity. The added mass helps to compress the slot creating an explosive rebound that sends the ball farther with less effort than any fairway wood we have manufactured to date.
c455 Face
The c455 face materials is a high grade Carpenter steel product that is unerringly consistent from batch to batch. The Carpenter c455 steel is harder than any other steel used in stainless fairway/hybrid production today. Therefore, it can be forged very thin on the edge. This design characteristic gave us the ability to maximize ball speed off the face and generate more distance from the fairway or tee box. Carpenter 455 is a more expensive face material. But even with the best, most expensive face in the fairway/hybrid market the Pursuit is still much less expensive than nationally advertised, tour play endorsed brands. Pursuit is affordably marketed but built with uncompromising quality.
Good Looks
The Carpenter face is engraved with precise score lines. The triple coat black gloss finish will shine on the course, and red accented indentions make the Pursuit fairway and hybrids look high tech yet understated.
Shaft Options
The HDX 80 is a capable shaft for the Pursuit hybrids. Manufactured by UST specifically for us, the HDX has a bend profile and playing characteristics that are similar to the stock shafts in drivers and fairway woods marketed by the larger club manufacturers. In fact, UST makes shafts for many of the industry’s most popular brands. The HDX fits the swings of a wide variety of golfers. It’s stiff tip offers control while the mid bend-point make it easy to generate the correct launch angle necessary to maximize distance and accuracy.
Recommended: Add hybrid headcovers to your order in step 5. Hybrids are susceptible to paint damage because they sit at iron level in the golf bag. If the painted crown makes contact with the iron heads, the paint will become damaged and chip.
